NEW RECRUITS CHECKLIST - stuff you need to know! READ ALL THIS SO YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT FROM US AND WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU!Raider requirementsAs a Recruit who wishes to become a Raider, you are expected to:
- Sign up for raids, and show up for all raids that you have signed up for at least 15 min in advance of the raid start time. Signing up for a raid is a commitment to the other raid members. We can't guarantee that you'll get a spot, but we'll do our best. You can sign up for events in the calendar (look for the flashing "?" in the upper right part of your mini-map). Whining about not getting to go on a raid is not tolerated. For 10-man raids there are only so many spots and because we keep track of attendance, everyone gets a fair shot at going.
- Have the required add-ons for raiding (Omen, Ventrilo, Deadly Boss Mods or some kind of raid event notification). If you don't have DBM we expect you know when to not "stand in the fire."
- Make an effort to be available for activities with guild members (quests, dungeons, off-target raids).
- Make an effort to improve your toon outside of raids (emblems/gear from instances, farming for materials for enchants/new crafted items, etc.) There are plenty of tradeskill grandmasters in our guild to help you craft items, you can see their lists in the Tradeskills forum.
- Refrain from participating in PUG raids for SJ's current raid targets so that you can run with us.
- Keep up to date on changes to our policies and important guild happenings in the forums.
- Register and actively read our forums. This is where we have a lot of information about our raids, discussions about guild direction, and interact socially outside of the game.
- Conduct yourself appropriately. This is rather subjective, obviously. As examples, we are not tolerant of excessive inappropriate language, and we do not tolerate anyone trying to cause drama or being a loot whore. We also don't look well upon spamming/griefing in general chat channels or general annoyances to the public while wearing our guild tag. And if you have personal dramas, take caution in how you air them out in the guild, you may not always get the response you expect. We're an adult and mature guild and we are proud that we can call each other friends online.
Your recruitment period is 2 weeks with significant group/raid participation with your main character. The ONLY exception to being promoted earlier is if a guild member can vouch for you as a
real life friend and in that case you are promoted to Member immediately and Raider after participating in at least 2 raids. All Recruits get a discussion thread in the guild member forums for guild members to voice their opinions on them. So treat your guildies with respect
Once the 2 weeks are up we will make one of the following decisions:- If the Recruit has made a favorable impression, but has not met the raiding requirements the Recruit will be promoted to Member* at the end of the recruit period.
- The recruitment period will be terminated, we will wish you luck and part ways.
* Members of SJ may attend raids but Raiders get priority on slots and gear on the raids.
Non-raider membersIf you are a friend of a guild member who wishes to join as a non-raider, you can feel free to fill out an app but
please specify that you will not be raiding so we do not evaluate you as a Raider.
Should you decide you wish to become a Raider, you will need to meet the requirements for Raiders, and attend at least 2 raids.
Any other questions - please feel free to send us a tell on or offline!last updated: 9/16/09
